The Local Interstellar Spectrum of Cosmic Ray Electrons . Direct measurements

چکیده

The local interstellar spectrum of cosmic ray electrons is derived by correcting the data from balloon and space measurements for the solar modulation effect. The resulting spectrum, after the renormalization of some experimental data set, can be fitted with a single power law from about 3 GeV to 2 TeV with spectral index γ = 3.42 ± 0.02. On the other hand, at low energies the measurements by CAPRICE94 and AMS-01 show that electrons are flattened while positrons still have a power law spectrum. This difference is probably due to a charge dependent effect of the solar modulation. Subject headings: cosmic rays: electrons and positrons—local interstellar spectrum

The Local Interstellar Spectrum of Cosmic Ray Electrons

The direct measurements of electrons and positrons over the last 30 years, corrected for the solar effect in the force-field approximation, are considered. The resulting overall electron spectrum may be fitted with a single power law above few GeV with spectral index (γ− = 3.41 ± 0.02), consistent with the spectral index of the positron spectrum (γ+ = 3.40 ± 0.06), therefore suggesting a common...

Letter to the Editor Diffuse galactic gamma rays, cosmic-ray nucleons and antiprotons

The excess of continuum γ-ray emission from the Galaxy above 1 GeV is an unsolved puzzle. It may indicate that the interstellar nucleon or electron spectra are harder than local direct measurements, as could be the case if a local source of cosmic rays were to dominate the nearby flux. It is however difficult to distinguish between the two cases. Cosmic-ray secondary antiprotons provide a way t...

Production and propagation of cosmic-ray positrons and electrons

We have made a new calculation of the cosmic-ray secondary positron spectrum using a diffusive halo model for Galactic cosmic-ray propagation. The code computes self-consistently the spectra of primary and secondary nucleons, primary electrons, and secondary positrons and electrons. The models are first adjusted to agree with the observed cosmic-ray Boron/Carbon ratio, and the interstellar prot...
